Computer science at 14? Nothing out of the ordinary for Jonas Greifenhain! Even though he’s still in Grade 8 at Freiherr-vom-Stein high-school in Oldenburg, Jonas has been attending lectures at the University of Hamburg in parallel this past year as a junior computer science student. His high-school exempts him from regular classes every Wednesday so that he can attend in Hamburg, and the course certificates he gets there will later be credited towards his bachelor degree.
It all started at the age of 10, when his mother spontaneously signed him up for a computer course. “Back then I didn’t have a clue about computers,” recalls Jonas, “but then I built my own out of hundreds of old parts.” Jonas wants to work with computers in the future, too, and “definitely become an computer scientist.”
He was at CeBIT to discover the newest IT trends and apps. Naturally, SAP is a mainstay at such events. “I gave a lot of thought beforehand about what I wanted to see – the SAP booth was one booth I didn’t want to miss.”
And his verdict?: “I think it’s great!” Well then, I guess we’ll see you again next year!
